The Senate is expected to vote on a government funding measure to reopen the government this evening as the shutdown finishes it’s record-long 40th day.
Democrats have been holding the American people hostage for 40 days to fight for Obamacare extensions and taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal aliens.
Also, as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent noted earlier, the shutdown is impacting Turmp’s economy, and economic growth “could be cut by as much as half if the shutdown continues.”
But as federal employees go without a paycheck, and government programs, such as SNAP benefits, run dry, the Democrats may be forced to come to the table.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, at least ten Senate Democrats are expected to join Republicans to pass a new spending bill that would reopen the government.
Instead of passing the House-backed continuing resolution, the Senate is reportedly working on a package with three full-year funding bills that would be attached to the funding bill to keep the government open until January 30.
The bill may include other concessions, including undoing federal layoffs and extending Affordable Care Act tax credits, because Republicans were too weak to go along with President Trump’s demands that they terminate the filibuster and reopen the government with 51 votes instead of the 60 required now.
Doing so would also empower the GOP to pass additional measures for the President’s agenda, including election integrity, banning men from women’s sports, ending taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens, and more.

The vote requires 60 yeas to invoke cloture and move on to a simple majority vote.
According to Fox, The House may not return to session until midweek to vote on the new bill and officially reopen the government.
The Senate is currently debating after Democrats held a comference meeting at 5 pm ET. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders told reporters on his waqy into the caucus meeting, “it would be a horrific mistake to cave in to Trump right now,” further describing it as “a tragedy for this country.
“The American people cannot afford a doubling of their health care premiums,” he said. “They can’t afford to lose their Medicaid, which 15 million people would. And essentially, if Democrats cave on this issue, what it will say to Donald Trump is that he has a green light to go forward toward authoritarianism.”
Per Fox’s Chad Pergram, Sanders also stated, “If Democrats cave on this issue, what it will say to Donald Trump is that he has a green light to go forward toward authoritarianism..And I think that would be a tragedy for this country. So I think what we have got to do is stand with the American people. If the American people, especially people in the democratic world, want us to stand told we can win this thing. What Tuesday’s election was about is people standing up to Trumpism, and I think it would be a policy and political disaster for the Democrats.”
