Nancy Pelosi Downplays LA Riots: Burned Car or Broken Window May be the “Exuberance of the Moment”

House Speaker Emerita Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) downplayed the pro-illegal immigration riots in Los Angeles, saying, “Whether you see a burned car, a broken window, whatever it is. It may be the exuberance of the moment.”

Pelosi made her excuse for the violence in the context that it may also be anarchists at work.

The 85-year-old Pelosi, who has represented San Francisco in Congress since 1987 and has been Speaker twice, addressed reporters at a House press conference on Tuesday.

Pelosi also criticized President Donald Trump over his handling of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot as compared to his federalizing the California National Guard to protect federal officials and properties in Los Angeles in response to violent protests against illegal immigration enforcement actions. Trump offered 10,000 troops for January 6 but was rejected. Trump’s insubordinate Pentagon leaders slow-walked sending D.C. National Guard troops to the Capitol on January 6 over concerns about ‘optics.’ Pelosi was seen on documentary footage that day accepting responsibility for not protecting the Capitol.

Full remarks by Pelosi:

.@SpeakerPelosi: “On January 6th…we begged the president of the United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it…And yet, in a contra-constitutional way, he has sent the National Guard into California. Something is very wrong with this picture.” pic.twitter.com/yHfezvqNf6

On Monday, the Catholic grandmother of nine Pelosi unleashed the F-bomb while ranting to reporter Matt Berg with Crooked Media about Trump federalizing the Guard (excerpt):

“What’s also bothering Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), however, is the fact that Trump didn’t send the National Guard to the Capitol during the January 6 riots: “It’s overwhelming because [the insurrectionists] want to put a bullet in my F-word head and they were going to hang the vice president of the United States — and this guy is not sending in the National Guard, and then lying about it to the public,” she told What A Day. “I’m very concerned about the hypocrisy.””

EXCLUSIVE: Nancy Pelosi is furious about Trump deploying the National Guard to the LA protests — and not the Capitol riots.

Formal statement by Pelosi issued Monday:

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s actions in California:

“The ongoing arrests in California of families and children obeying the law are evidence of a broader pattern of ICE’s renegade behavior across the country. The resulting peaceful demonstrations against these actions are a manifestation of understandable fear in our communities.

“Now we have seen the President of the United States say that he would arrest a sitting American governor just for disagreeing with the actions of this Administration. This is the hallmark of authoritarianism on the road to tyranny – and all Americans should be shocked and appalled by the President’s blatant disregard for our Constitutional system.

“The Trump Administration’s escalation and provocation inflames tensions and incites violence. All Americans must be able to exercise their Constitutional right to lawfully and peacefully protest. We must shine a bright light on the unlawful tactics of the Trump Administration so that freedom of speech prevails.”

Pelosi admitted her culpability for not protecting the Capitol in documentary footage from J6:

“Trump refused to call in the National Guard on January 6”

Reality: Pelosi refused to deploy the National Guard.

She literally admits it here. pic.twitter.com/g2jSwe5ovN
