White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will deliver a press briefing today as President Trump inches closer to finally ending the years-long war between Russia and Ukraine, which started under Biden.

This comes the day after Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and seven European Leaders to negotiate a peace agreement after meeting with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday.

During the meeting, Trump revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to a deal that would involve security guarantees for Ukraine, which Ukraine has made as one of its central demands to end the war.

President Trump later spoke with Putin privately and announced that Putin agreed to meet with Zelensky and later participate in a trilateral meeting with Trump and Zelensky.

“During the meeting, we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a coordination with the United States of America,” Trump said.

“Everyone is very happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine.”

Before the meetings, Trump also told French President Emmanuel Macron on a hot mic that Putin “wants to make a deal.”

This also comes amid President Trump’s “Liberation Day” crackdown on crime in Washington, DC, where he federalized the DC Metropolitan Police Department deployed hundreds of federal agents and DC National Guard troops.

Six states have also sent their own National Guard troops to DC to assist with the public safety emergency, declared by Trump last week.

The Press briefing is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm ET.
